Matcha is one of those superfoods that is commonly heard of, consumed and enjoyed, but do we know how good for us it really is?!
If I could rank superfoods, matcha would be right up there at the top of the list. It has more health benefits than I can count. Just kidding, I can count pretty high, but you get the gist that it has a lot of beneficial properties.
For starters, one cup of matcha tea is so potent in anti-oxidants that it would equal at least 10 cups of brewed green tea. According to the experts at Tufts University, matcha contains an outstanding twenty times more anti-oxidants than pomegranates or blueberries.
Dare I say that a matcha a day keeps the doctor away? How, you ask? Incorporating matcha into your daily routine can help restore and preserve the body’s well-being and balance. Matcha contains a unique anti-oxidant called catechins, which can not be found in other foods. Catechin is so powerful that it provides potent cancer-fighting properties.
While one teaspoon (72 mg) of matcha contains 2 x the amount of natural caffeine than a shot of espresso, it provides you energy without the jitters that coffee may give you. With matcha’s combination of naturally occurring caffeine and the rare amino acid L-theanine, you are provided with a stable and extended boost of energy. L-theanine not only counter balances the effects of caffeine, but it also relieves stress and lowers blood pressure, leaving you feeling calm and collected.
